In the context of a legal entity running Complex Engineering Programs, I understand Management to be about

• Developing and implementing methods, processes and tools for Program executions, which are adequate to cope with their associated complexities and which shall become part of the legal entity’s Business Operating System.
• Steering the people of a legal entity, which directly or indirectly work for Programs and their associated Products, towards agreed objectives while staying within defined constraints and while adhering to the applicable methods, processes and tools.
• Dealing with clients, suppliers, authorities and other stakeholders external to the legal entity; this typically involves signed agreements (e.g. contracts).
• Guiding, coaching, mentoring and training the people directly or indirectly working for for Programs and their associated Products, and to provide visions and overall direction to them, as well as taking personal risks.
